Facial Veins

Facial veins, like spider veins or broken capillaries, are usually harmless, but may pose a cosmetic concern for those that have them. The red or bluish thread-like veins can appear anywhere on the face, but typically on the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Though this issue can affect anyone, it is most commonly seen in fair-skinned women and appear around age 40.

Facial Veins

The two most common causes for facial veins are genetics and sun exposure, which can be more intense for those living in higher altitudes, like Denver residents. Other causes can include aging, hormones, trauma or pressure, and rosacea.

If you suffer from broken facial capillaries affecting your skin and appearance, there is help. Denver Vein Center offers vein removal treatments for the face. Facial veins can be removed very effectively through two means, sclerotherapy and laser therapy.

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive medicinal procedure that has been around for decades. It eliminates veins through the injection of a solution directly into the vein. The solution causes the vein to collapse by irritating the lining of the blood vessels, and reroutes the blood to healthier veins. Eventually the collapsed blood vessel scars and is it absorbed into the tissue, fading from view.

Laser vein removal has also been around for many decades, and with each year come greater advances in technology to help treat a variety of skin conditions. For facial veins, a focused beam of light targets the vein, heating it up, and destroying it. Similar to sclerotherapy, the scarred vein is reabsorbed into the surrounding tissue and eventually disappears.
