Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Orthotics
How much does custom orthotics cost?
Custom Orthotics at Denver Vein Center cost $400 a pair. This price includes personal evaluation and measurements by Dr. McNelly, fabrication, follow-up appointment, and any necessary adjustments.
Does insurance cover custom orthotics?
While individual insurance plans vary, custom orthotics are typically not covered by most major insurances. We will help checking your insurance benefits when you call to make an appointment with us.
How long does it take for the orthotics to be made?
The custom orthotics are fabricated by specialized company/lab and the usual turnaround time is 2 weeks.
How long do custom orthotics last?
With normal daily wear, our custom orthotics last about 2 years. This is about double the lifespan of a over-the-counter pair.
Will the orthotics fit into my shoes
Our custom orthotics are made to fit most athletic shoes, tennis shoes, walking shoes, dress shoes, work boots, and casual shoes. They obviously will not work with sandals or high heels.
Can orthotics hurt my feet?
Dr. McNelly will evaluate your fresh orthotics for fitment when you return to our clinic for follow-up. While there is a short break-in period for any new pair, your orthotics should not cause any severe symptoms. If you experience any discomfort, we recommend your return to clinic for additional adjustment.
I have old orthotics. When do I need new orthotics?
As noted above, a pair of orthotics typically last 1-2 years with daily wear and will lose their support over time. Other factors such as age, pregnancy, weight and hormone changes can also alter your foot anatomy and necessitate a new measurement. If you have foot pain with your existing orthotics, call us today for an evaluation.
